Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLBs) are national, standardized measures of communicative competency – they show how well you can communicate by assessing four skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

Benchmark Placement Test (CLBPT)
What is a CLBPT?
The Canadian Language Benchmarks Placement Test (CLBPT) is the assessment tool we use at VDICSS. It is task-based, looks at the four primary language skills (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking), and assigns Canadian Language Benchmarks levels 1 – 8 for each skill.
The CLBPT can be used to register in the Health Career Access Program (HCAP). For more details, please click here.

The cost for a CLBPT assessment for entry into HCAP is $150.

The CLBPT is NOT accepted by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship and Immigration Canada as proof of language ability for immigration (see the IRCC website for language tests you can use for citizenship applications).

The CLBPT has never been validated for native English speakers and cannot be used with this group.
