Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS)
The SWIS Program provides settlement support to newcomer students and their families in partnership with School District 22 (Vernon). SWIS helps children and youth settle into their schools, build cultural connections, and feel confident as they integrate into life in Canada.
Adapting to a new school system can be challenging, which is why SWIS works with students and families to meet both short- and long-term goals, helping them navigate school life and connect to community resources. SWIS also supports parents in understanding the Canadian education system, ensuring families feel informed and empowered.
